The History of Connect Durham and the Monday Night Group

The Monday Night Group began in March 2014 as an Alpha Course with oversight provided by King's Church Durham, The group was held at Rusty's Barbers in Durham City centre. Once the Alpha Course was complete the group decided to continue informally referred to as "Bible Night at Rusty's Barbers".

In due course The Monday Night Group grew in size and established links with Junction42's Connect Network, whom were invited to give support and advice to the expanding group. Junction42's aim is to provide an accessible Christian network to prison leavers, ex-offenders and their families and friends across the North East of England via the means of the various groups of the Junction42 Connect Network , which partner with local churches wherever possible.

Subsequently, The Monday Night Group evolved to include a Connect Group for Durham called "Connect Durham" in order to extend it's Christian outreach. The group is now commonly referred to as "Connect Durham" as well as "The Monday Night Group".

Oversight for The Monday Night Group is exclusively maintained by King's Church Durham and the group is also part of Junction42's Connect Network with Junction42 providing resources and support to the group and the leaders.

Larger premises had to be found to facilitate the growing group, which now meets at Sanctuary21 every Monday night at 18:00 hrs for a 19:00 hrs start.
